Berkshire Hathaway Urged to Form Committee to Oversee Risks of AI
Jan 8, 2025 4:25 AM

07:13 AM EST, 01/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A, BRK.B) investor Tulipshare said Tuesday it submitted a proposal requesting the company form a committee of independent members to oversee the ethics and risks of the company's artificial intelligence investments.

"The regulatory landscape has yet to catch up with the ever-evolving uses and impacts of AI, and Berkshire Hathaway is uniquely situated to have a precedent-setting impact on its own operations as well as the companies in which it invests," Tulipshare said in a statement.

The activist investor requested that the proposal be included as an item subject to a shareholder vote in Berkshire's 2025 proxy statement.

"Tulipshare believes that appointing a dedicated AI committee will enhance accountability to shareholders by clearly identifying which directors are responsible for AI-related risks," the statement said.

Berkshire Hathaway did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
