Aug 19, 2024 3:50 AM

06:38 AM EDT, 08/19/2024 (MT Newswires) -- BHP (BHP) said Monday that BHP Mitsubishi Alliance signed a seven-year power purchase agreement with CleanCo, becoming its first Australian operation to use 100% renewable energy for its electricity needs.

The company said that starting in fiscal 2027, the new power purchase agreement, along with a previous agreement with CleanCo in 2023, would supply Queensland assets entirely with renewable energy from sources like solar, wind, and pumped hydro.

It added that the agreement supports four renewable electricity projects across regional Queensland generating more than 1500 local jobs during construction and is expected to create 37 jobs once operating.
