Biden determined to keep US Steel in US hands, White House says
May 9, 2024 9:22 AM

WASHINGTON, May 9 (Reuters) - U.S. President Biden

remains determined to make sure U.S. Steel remains in American

hands, White House national security adviser John Kirby said on

Thursday.

The European Commission on Monday approved Japan's Nippon

Steel ( NISTF ) $14.9 billion buyout of U.S. Steel , saying

the deal does not raise competition concerns despite the

political opposition that it faces in the United States.
