Big Deal: Experts discuss direct overseas listing
Oct 1, 2020 9:37 AM

If you think it's raining Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) in the Indian markets with more than 10 companies together raising less than a billion dollars. Let's look at one blockbuster listing of a cloud data platform company called Snowflake, which raised $3.4 billion in the US in one issuance.

Here’s more, the total market capitalisation of all the companies listed in India is approximately $2.5 trillion and if we compare it to the US, it's $35 trillion. Now that is the kind of difference in scale, size, depth, and pool that we are talking about while comparing India to the US and that is the reason why the bustling tech startup companies of India are waiting for the final rules for a direct overseas listing.

So the question on Big Deal today is, will the American dream translate into a reality? Alok Bansal, co-founder & CEO of Policybazaar; Sumit Jalan, co-head of India Investment Banking and Capital Markets, Credit Suisse and, Vivek Gupta of KPMG discussed this further.
