04:55 PM EST, 11/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Birchtech ( BCHT ) on Thursday reported a third-quarter profit as rising licensing and product-supply revenues drove an improvement in profitability while its air- and water-treatment businesses gained traction.
The company posted a net income of US$0.79 million, or US$0.01 per share, for the quarter, compared with a loss of US$0.5 million, or nil, in the year-ago period.
Revenue rose 41% to US$7.4 million from US$5.2 million, and ahead of the FactSet consensus estimate of US$5.4 million. The company said the rise came on growth in high-margin licensing agreements and early commercialization of its water-treatment solutions.
"The third quarter marked a clear transition point toward profitability for Birchtech ( BCHT ) as we advanced from foundation-building to execution across both our air and water divisions," said chief executive Richard MacPherson.
"Our air business remains the backbone of our operations, generating consistent, high-margin revenue while expanding through new licensing agreements. As we begin to reach a critical mass of coal-fired utilities now under license - including several added in recent months - we continue to convert prior technology adopters into long-term commercial partners, driving recurring revenue."
Total R&D expenses were approximately US$0.5 million in the last quarter as compared to nil a year-ago. R&D expenses relate to research conducted to develop water treatment products utilizing new sorbent technologies, the company said.
The company's shares closed up C$0.04 to C$1.09 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
