Apr 2, 2025 6:45 AM

09:22 AM EDT, 04/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- BlackBerry (BB) on Wednesday projected its fiscal 2026 revenue to decline year over year, while the cybersecurity software company reported fourth-quarter results above its own expectations.

Revenue is anticipated to come in between $504 million and $534 million for the fiscal year ending Feb. 28, 2026, compared with the $534.9 million recorded in fiscal 2025. The current consensus among six FactSet-polled analysts is for sales of $535.4 million for the ongoing fiscal year. The company's New York stock exchange-listed shares dropped 22% in premarket activity.

Revenue from the QNX division, which was previously known as internet-of-things, is pegged at $250 million to $270 million for the full year, while secure communications sales are forecast at $230 million to $240 million. The company expects licensing revenue of about $24 million.

Adjusted earnings are seen at $0.08 to $0.10 a share for fiscal 2026, while the Street is looking for $0.05. In fiscal 2025, adjusted EPS came in at $0.02 versus $0.05 the year before.

"We started the year with a goal to deliver profitability and positive cash flow, and we're pleased we delivered across the board," Chief Executive John Giamatteo said in a statement. "BlackBerry goes into the new fiscal year in a strong financial position, with a solid balance sheet that provides optionality for driving shareholder value."

For the three months through February, BlackBerry's adjusted EPS remained unchanged year over year at $0.03, but topped the average analyst estimate for a breakeven result. Revenue slipped to $141.7 million from $152.9 million last year, while four analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $129 million. In December, the company issued a bottom line outlook ranging from a $0.01 per-share loss to earnings of $0.01, as well as revenue of $126 million to $135 million.

QNX revenue edged down to $65.8 million from $65.9 million in the prior-year quarter, while secure communications fell to $67.3 million from $71.6 million. Licensing sales decreased to $8.6 million from $15.4 million.

"BlackBerry closed out this transformational fiscal year with another quarter of strong financial performance from all three divisions," according to Giamatteo.

The company anticipates a loss of $0.01 a share to a breakeven result for the ongoing quarter and revenue to be in a range of $107 million to $115 million. Five analysts surveyed by FactSet expect the company to break even while the revenue consensus is $125.1 million based on the same number of analysts.
