11:25 AM EST, 11/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- BlackBerry (BB, BB.TO) said a cybersecurity evaluation of its Blackberry AtHoc communications system was "in progress" by a US government review panel, setting the stage for AtHoc soon becoming the first critical event management system to achieve the top security rating through the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program.
FedRAMP High authorization is intended to secure unclassified data and communications in cloud-computing environments operated by the US government, with a particular emphasis on protecting confidentiality, integrity and the availability of data used by law enforcement and emergency services organizations.
The company did not say on Thursday when it expects the agency review will be completed, although it said AtHoc users whose systems were previously designated for moderate security levels will have the option of upgrading to FedRAMP High status once the current review is completed.
Blackberry shares recently were marginally higher in recent trading.
