08:45 AM EDT, 05/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Blue Bird ( BLBD ) said Friday that it has reached a three-year collective bargaining agreement with the United Steelworkers union, covering more than 1,500 production workers at Blue Bird's ( BLBD ) facility in Fort Valley, Georgia.
"We reached an agreement which provides positive outcomes for all parties involved and will continue to drive our One Team, high-performance culture," Chief Executive Phil Horlock said in a statement. "We are confident that the agreement will further bolster Blue Bird's ( BLBD ) position as an employer of choice in the region."
The deal, which has been ratified by Blue Bird ( BLBD ) employees, will provide all workers with raises of at least 12%, while some of the lowest paid workers will see raises of more than 40%, according to the union. The contract also establishes a defined contribution plan, as well as a platform for workers to address concerns, the union said.
"Workers at Blue Bird ( BLBD ) organized because they needed a voice on the job," USW District 9 Director Dan Flippo said in a statement. "Thanks to their solidarity and hard work, they made significant gains that will benefit them now and lay a firm foundation for further progress well into the future."
