07:47 AM EDT, 09/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- On Tuesday's data docket, investors have Canadian population estimates for the end of Q2/start of Q3 at 08:30 a.m. ET, noted Bank of Montreal (BMO).
Canada's population grew 3.2% year over year at the end of Q1/start of Q2, representing a net annual gain of 1.3 million, said the bank. The percentage growth has been close to this figure for the past three quarters, which is the strongest since the late 1950s. The federal government has been announcing measures to slow population expansion -- fewer foreign students and temporary foreign workers -- but it's early for these to show up.
The US dollar (USD) is firmer (BBDXY +0.17%), with the Canadian dollar (CAD) just a bit softer with CAD per USD up 0.01%, according to BMO.
