07:45 AM EST, 11/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Investors will hear Tuesday from Bank of Canada Deputy Governor Rhys Mendes, noted Bank of Montreal (BMO).
The bank said it will be listening carefully for any remarks on the potential tariffs from the United States' incoming administration of Donald Trump.
Comments will be posted on the BoC website at 8:05 am. ET.
Investors will also get Statistics Canada's early estimate for October's wholesale trade data, at 8:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday.
On Monday, BMO saw manufacturing sales jump 1.3% month over month, while last week's retail sales report showed a sturdy 0.7% month-over-month rise in the month.
The Canadian dollar (CAD or loonie) weakened to $1.41 after US President-elect Trump's announcement late Monday of an "additional" 10% tariff on all goods coming into the country from Canada, added the bank.
