07:44 AM EDT, 03/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Canadian province of Quebec tables its budget after 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, noted Bank of Montreal (BMO).
Provincial Finance Minister Eric Girard said on Monday that the deficit for the upcoming fiscal year will set a record high above $11 billion -- just under 2% of gross domestic product -- due to expected economic pain from a trade war with the United States and the need to support businesses and workers, said the bank.
The Canadian dollar (CAD or loonie) is firmer at $1.430 on higher oil prices ($69.5/barrel WTI), stated BMO.
