08:00 AM EDT, 06/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Statistics Canada will release the population estimate for Q1 at 8:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday, noted Bank of Montreal (BMO).
Three months ago, it was a 1.8% year-over-year growth, which was down from 3.2% year over year a year ago. The latter was the highest since the late 1950s.
Investors will also get household and mortgage credit for April at 8:30 a.m.ET Wednesday, pointed out the bank. In the prior month, they were up 4.4% year over year and 4.5% year over year, respectively.
Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem speaks on "Tariffs, trade, employment and inflation" at 11:30 a.m. ET Wednesday, with the text released at 11:15 a.m. ET. This will be followed by a press conference at around 12:40 p.m. ET.
The US dollar (USD) is down a bit (BBDXY -0.05%), with the Canadian dollar firmer (CAD per USD -0.05%), aded BMO.
