12:47 PM EDT, 10/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) 737 operators were warned by the US Federal Aviation Administration about the potential for limited or jammed rudder movement on certain 737 planes.
In the safety alert for airlines dated Monday, the regulator said that based on preliminary findings, Boeing 737 planes with the Collins Aerospace SVO-730 rudder rollout guidance actuator installed may be affected by jammed or restricted rudder resulting from moisture that entered the actuator and froze during flight.
Collins Aerospace, a unit of RTX (RTX), notified Boeing ( BA ) that more than 353 actuators delivered to Boeing ( BA ) since February 2017 were affected, the National Transportation Safety Board said in urgent safety recommendations to Boeing ( BA ) and the FAA on Sept. 26.
Boeing ( BA ) and RTX didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
Shares of Boeing ( BA ) fell 0.6% in recent trading Tuesday, and RTX dropped 1%.
