12:21 PM EDT, 06/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing's ( BA ) 787 fleet being operated by airlines in India has passed recent safety checks without any major issues, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said Tuesday, confirming that all systems were found compliant with regulatory standards.
Despite the positive safety assessment, DGCA held a high-level meeting with officials from Air India and Air India Express to address ongoing operational concerns, including maintenance-related delays and a spike in flight cancellations.
As of June 17, 24 out of 33 Boeing 787-8/9 aircraft had completed enhanced safety inspections, with further checks in progress. The regulator advised the airlines to improve internal coordination, ensure spare part availability, and enhance communication with passengers, especially during delays caused by airspace restrictions.
DGCA said it will continue to monitor the airlines to uphold safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
