12:53 PM EST, 11/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) said Friday it has started construction on the expansion of its South Carolina site, home to the 787 Dreamliner program, as the company prepares to ramp up output amid rising global demand for widebody aircraft.
The aerospace giant said it plans to invest over $1 billion in this expansion and create over 1,000 jobs in the next five years as it targets an increase in 787 production to 10 airplanes per month in 2026.
The expansion will include a new 1.2-million-square-foot final assembly building, a parts preparation facility, a vertical fin paint facility, and new Flight Line stalls at the site's Airport Campus. Boeing ( BA ) will also expand its Interiors Responsibility Center, which produces key cabin components for the Dreamliner.
Shares of Boeing ( BA ) were down 2.1% in recent Friday trading.
