12:55 PM EDT, 06/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) investors are expected to take a "cautious view" on the stock after Thursday's Air India aircraft incident involving its 787 aircraft in Ahmedabad, India, RBC Capital Markets said in a note.
The plane, which was carrying 242 passengers and crew, crashed shortly after take-off in what was the first major crash of a 787 Dreamliner, according to the Aviation Safety Network database.
RBC Capital said although it is too early to speculate on what caused the incident, the event risks overshadowing Boeing's ( BA ) presence at the upcoming Paris airshow and impact near-term sentiment on the planemaker's stock.
"We would caution investors to not rush to judgment on the causes of the crash, but can appreciate the uncertainty now on the stock will be an overhang, and could linger for an extended period of time," RBC Capital said.
Boeing ( BA ) has come under increased scrutiny following a string of plane incidents including the mid-air blowout of the 737 Max jetliner's fuselage in January 2024, which investigators say was caused by four missing key bolts, according to a February 2024 preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board.
The head of the Federal Aviation Administration previously described the January incident as a production failure and said the company emphasized mass production over safety standards.
Boeing ( BA ) shares were down 4.3% in recent Thursday trading.
