Boeing Making Progress on Safety But Still Not Where It Needs to Be, FAA Head Says
Sep 24, 2024 10:47 AM

01:11 PM EDT, 09/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) is making progress on its safety management system but the aircraft maker is still not where it needs to be, the head of the Federal Aviation Administration said Tuesday.

FAA Administrator Michael Whitaker told the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Aviation that the regulator had implemented six key performance indicators since January which gives the agency a month-by-month reading on how Boeing ( BA ) is making progress.

Whitaker said the company would need three to five years to rebuild its safety culture.

"It's a long-term project and I've talked to the board and the CEO about the need to be in it for the long term and making sure they arrive at that place," Whitaker said.

Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
