02:07 PM EDT, 06/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing's ( BA ) order intake shot up above 300 in May due to increased demand for 737 Max jets ahead of the Paris Air Show that kicks off later this month.
The American plane maker secured 303 orders last month, accounting for more than half of its orders in the first five months of the year, company data on Tuesday showed. Orders totaled eight for April and four for May 2024.
Last month's count included orders for 146 737 Max airplanes, with a single unidentified customer booking 119 of such model, the data showed. Orders from Qatar Airways for 787 Dreamliners and yet-to-be-certified 777X planes also boosted May's tally.
Overall orders received by Boeing ( BA ) between January and May totaled 552.
The plane maker delivered 45 jets last month, unchanged from April and up from 24 in May 2024. Boeing ( BA ) handed over a total of 220 aircraft to customers from January to May.
Boeing ( BA ) and its European rival, Airbus, are expected to make "meaningful" order announcements at the Paris Air Show that begins on June 16, according to RBC Capital Markets. China is reportedly set to place an order for up to 500 aircraft from Airbus as trade talks between Washington and Beijing continue.
"We believe US trade relations will play a role in potential order activity," RBC analyst Ken Herbert said in a Monday note to clients.
Since 2015, the annual airshow has represented about a third of annual orders for both Airbus and Boeing ( BA ), according to Herbert.
Airbus delivered 51 jets last month, bringing its total deliveries so far this year to 243, data from its website showed.
