Boeing Reportedly Lays Off Over 2,200 Workers in Washington, Oregon

03:13 PM EST, 11/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) started layoffs in Washington and Oregon with more than 2,200 workers affected, according to media reports on Monday.

The layoffs are part of a plan to cut 17,000 jobs at the aerospace company, according to the reports.

Layoff notices are being issued to affected US workers, who will remain on Boeing ( BA ) payroll until mid-January in compliance with the requirement for at least 60 days' notice prior to termination, the reports said.

Boeing ( BA ) didn't immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.

The company's shares rose 2.1% in recent Monday trading.
