07:21 AM EDT, 05/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) is making progress on developing a permanent solution to fix an issue with the 737 MAX engine anti-ice system that has delayed certification of the 737 MAX 7 and the MAX 10 models, according to media reports citing the company.
The issue with the anti-ice system could cause overheating and potentially lead to engine failure, the reports said
The Air Current, citing sources, reported Wednesday that Boeing ( BA ) has decided on a design to modify the internal structure of the 737 MAX engine inlet along with a new internal schedules for certification of the MAX 7 and 10 that extend well into 2025 at the earliest.
An unnamed source told Reuters that flight testing on the anti-ice fix is scheduled for later this year and that certification of the MAX 7 could delayed to mid-2025.
Boeing ( BA ) didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
