07:32 AM EST, 01/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) will remain under the Federal Aviation Administration's "enhanced oversight," multiple media outlets reported Friday, citing outgoing FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker.
Whitaker said the agency conducted an "unprecedented number of unannounced audits" of Boeing ( BA ) following the January 2024 incident in which an Alaska Airlines 737 Max 9 lost a door panel mid-air due to missing bolts. The FAA also holds monthly status reviews with Boeing ( BA ) executives to monitor progress, according to the reports.
The enhanced oversight is "not a one-year project" but is "here to stay" as there is a need for "a fundamental cultural shift at Boeing ( BA ) that's oriented around safety and quality above profits," Whitaker was quoted as saying.
Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
