04:43 AM EDT, 03/26/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) will face a jury trial June 23 over allegedly deceiving regulators regarding the safety of its 737 Max jets after a federal judge scuttled his own order giving the plane maker and US Department of Justice more time to work out a deal, news outlets reported.
US District Judge Reed O'Connor's order followed a recent report by The Wall Street Journal alleging that Boeing ( BA ) was looking to back out of a guilty plea it had negotiated with the Biden administration in favor of more lenient treatment by the Trump administration.
The parties previously had an April 11 deadline to work out a new plea deal, Reuters reported.
"[As] stated in the parties' recent filings, Boeing ( BA ) and the [DOJ] continue to be engaged in good faith discussions regarding an appropriate resolution of this matter," Reuters reported, citing the company.
Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
