12:57 PM EDT, 09/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) plans to temporarily furlough workers in the coming days, including US-based executives and managers, according to media reports Wednesday.
Boeing ( BA ) Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg told employees in a memo that some workers will take one week of furlough every four weeks on a rolling basis as the aircraft maker navigates an ongoing strike.
More than 30,000 machinists went on strike on Friday in Seattle and Portland after rejecting a tentative labor deal.
Ortberg and the Boeing ( BA ) leadership team will also take a pay cut for the duration of the strike, according to the memo.
Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
