06:20 AM EDT, 07/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) workers with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, or IAM, District 837, rejected the company's contract offer during a vote held Sunday, the union said the same day.
The union represents more than 3,200 members at Boeing ( BA ) facilities in Illinois and Missouri. The current contract with Boeing ( BA ) is set to expire on Sunday, followed by a seven-day "cooling off period" before the start of a strike action, according to the statement.
"The IAM Union looks forward to returning to the bargaining table with Boeing's ( BA ) leadership," said the union.
Dan Gillian, Boeing Air Dominance vice president and senior site executive at the company's St. Louis facility in Missouri, told MT Newswires that the company was "disappointed" that the union members rejected the "richest contract offer" Boeing ( BA ) has ever presented to IAM 837.
"We've activated our contingency plan and are focused on preparing for a strike," Gillian said, noting that the company has no scheduled talks with the union.
