02:51 PM EDT, 04/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) unit Millennium Space Systems said Tuesday it has secured a contract worth $414 million from the Space Development Agency to provide the Fire-control On Orbit-support-to-the-war Fighter, or F2.
Millennium Space Systems will supply a constellation of eight satellites along with a ground system and conduct mission operations, the company said.
F2 boosts the US government's fire-control capabilities for tracking advanced threats, including hypersonic missiles, with precision, according to the company statement. It demonstrates missile defense capabilities by embedding fire control sensors into a prototype constellation.
Boeing ( BA ) shares were down 2.4% in recent trading.
