06:40 AM EDT, 09/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing's ( BA ) pay deal talks with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers broke off and no further dates for negotiations were scheduled at this time, the union said Friday in a post on X.
The union said it did not make progress on the pension issue as Boeing ( BA ) was adamant it will not unfreeze the defined benefit plan, however, the union remains open to talks with the company.
In an email to MT Newswires, a company spokesperson said Boeing ( BA ) remains committed to resetting its relationship with its represented employees and wants to reach an agreement as soon as possible.
Over 32,000 Boeing ( BA ) workers in the Seattle area and Portland, Oregon started a strike on Sept. 13 which stopped production of airplane models including Boeing's ( BA ) 737 MAX, according to Reuters.
The union is seeking a 40% increase in pay in addition to the restoration of a defined benefit pension, the report said.
Boeing ( BA ) made a final improved offer to the striking workers on Monday, giving them a 30% raise over four years and restoring a performance bonus, however a union survey showed that was not enough, according to the report.
