02:50 PM EDT, 06/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Canadian workers' union Unifor on Tuesday noted that after plane maker Bombardier (BBD-A.TO, BBD-B.TO) had yesterday presented a "final" contract proposal, the union's bargaining committees had reviewed it, deemed it "insufficient" and ultimately rejected it.
As a result, Unifor said, the strike at the Bombardier facility at Toronto-based Pearson international airport -- with union units involved in building Bombardier's long-range Global series aircraft -- will continue.
The union statement said: "Both parties remain apart on key union priorities. However, specific details of the negotiations will not be made public to protect the integrity of the bargaining process.
"Both the union and the company will remain at the bargaining table and further updates on negotiations will be provided at the appropriate time."
