May 29, 2025 2:33 PM

05:20 PM EDT, 05/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Bombardier (BBD-B.TO) on Thursday said the first production Global 8000 aircraft completed its maiden flight on May 16 from the company's Aircraft Assembly Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.

During the flight, the aircraft underwent a series of standard production tests, and all systems performed as expected, the company added.

The aircraft will next head to Bombardier's Laurent Beaudoin Completion Centre in Montreal, where its interior will be completed. The Global 8000 is expected to enter service in the second half of 2025, the company said.

Also on Thursday, the company said it closed a US$500-million offering of notes. The Senior Notes due June, 2033, carry an interest rate of 6.75% and were sold at par. Proceeds will be used to repay existing debt.

The company's Class B shares closed up $3.35 to $95.15 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
