08:26 AM EST, 11/14/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boralex ( BRLXF ) on Thursday said its second quarter loss widened on lower electricity production and weaker revenue.
The renewable-power producer said it lost $14 million, in the quarter, compared with a loss of $8 million in the year-prior period. Per-share results were not disclosed.
Revenue fell 12% to $150 million from $171 million, while cashflow from operations dropped to $64 million from $67 million.
The company said its power production fell 3% to 1,081 gigawatt hours from 1,110 a year earlier due to what it called adverse wind conditions in France and Canada, as well as production curtailments at unspecified sites. It is readying the opening of new windfarms in Quebec and Scotland before year end, adding 306 megawatts of additional capacity.
"This quarter, Boralex ( BRLXF ) recorded a low level of production owing to adverse weather conditions in both Canada and France. In the past few years we have seen the volatility of the resource in our segment grow from quarter to quarter, which makes it more difficult to plan and manage production without however affecting mid to long term annual production forecasts," chief executive Patrick Decostre said in a release.
Boralex ( BRLXF ) shares closed up $0.29 to $32.80 Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
