09:38 AM EDT, 06/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boston Beer ( SAM ) said late Friday that it does "not comment on rumors" after The Wall Street Journal reported that the company is in early talks to be acquired by Japanese whisky maker Suntory Holdings.

Suntory has denied that it was in discussions to acquire Boston Beer ( SAM ), media outlets reported, citing a Japanese whisky producer spokesperson.

Suntory did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Boston Beer's ( SAM ) stock fell nearly 10% in early Monday trading.
