02:24 PM EDT, 04/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- BP's (BP) Archaea Energy said Tuesday it has switched on its largest renewable natural gas plant in Shawnee, Kansas, just outside of Kansas City.
The plant, which operates near a landfill, is capable of converting 9,600 standard cubic feet of landfill gas per minute into lower-carbon renewable natural gas, it said.
The firm said the modular plant can heat up to 38,000 homes annually, citing the EPA Landfill Gas Energy Benefits Calculator.
