SAO PAULO, Aug 7 (Reuters) - Brazilian power company
Eletrobras on Wednesday reported a 7.6% increase in
its second-quarter net profit from the same period a year
earlier.
The firm posted a net profit of 1.74 billion reais ($308.68
million) in the quarter ended in June.
WHY IT'S IMPORTANT
Eletrobras, which was privatized in 2022, is Brazil's
largest power company.
BY THE NUMBERS
Recurring earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation
and amortization (EBITDA), adjusted by local regulatory rules,
stood at 6 billion reais, up 9.6% year-on-year.
Operational net revenue, also adjusted, increased some
9% to 9.7 billion reais.
KEY QUOTES
Eletrobras said higher revenue was driven by its power
transmission business, while revenue from its power generation
unit was "stable with higher volumes offseting a price
reduction."
It also highlighted advances in energy
commercialization, with 551 customers in Brazil's energy "free
market," in which transactions are made directly between the
parties, from 265 customers a year earlier.
