SAO PAULO, Aug 25 (Reuters) - Brazilian retailer
Americanas announced on Monday that its board had
approved Fernando Dias Soares as the company's new Chief
Executive Officer starting in October, according to a securities
filing.
Soares is a former executive for Anheuser-Busch InBev
and Domino's Pizza who joined Americanas in 2024 as
Chief Operating Officer.
He will replace Leonardo Coelho, who will join Americanas'
finance committee, the firm said in the filing.
Americanas has been under bankruptcy protection since early
2023, when it unveiled an alleged accounting fraud that later
led to legal accusations and an arbitration against several of
its former management.
Coelho was tapped as CEO about a month after Americanas
filed for bankruptcy protection to lead the company through its
restructuring process.
Americanas said Soares will "continue to execute the
company' strategic plan with a focus on growth, based on
productivity and profitability, to serve all stakeholders".
