Sept 4 (Reuters) - Embraer ( ERJ ) said on Thursday
it would announce what it described as a "milestone" for the
Brazilian planemaker in Washington next week.
Embraer ( ERJ ), which assembles some business jets in Florida,
declined further comment on the planned announcement but
industry sources said it was expected to focus on boosting U.S.
manufacturing jobs through its commercial aircraft subsidiary.
The September 10 announcement will coincide with a major
gathering of aerospace leaders in the U.S. capital and comes at
a time when the world's third largest planemaker is lobbying to
remove 10% tariffs on its planes imposed by the Trump
administration.
The announcement will be "the first of its kind ever made in
the United States," Embraer ( ERJ ) said in a media advisory.
Domestic and foreign aerospace firms alike have been
promoting investments in the United States to ease pressure on
the highly globalised sector from U.S. President Donald Trump's
"America First" economic policies, though analysts caution some
of the newly announced investments were already in the pipeline.
