SAO PAULO, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Brazil's Gol Linhas Aereas
Inteligentes SA has entered a leasing agreement with
Avolon Aerospace for five Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, along
with a letter of intent for up to two additional Airbus
aircraft, the airline and its controlling shareholder Abra said
on Thursday.
Deliveries are scheduled for 2026, Gol said in a securities
filing, adding that the aircraft may be operated by any company
within Abra, which includes Colombian airline Avianca. The value
of the deal was not disclosed.
"There is no immediate financial effect for Gol as a result
of the signing of the contracts, nor are there any definitive
investments or commitments for any companies that make up the
Abra Group," the company added.
Abra said in a separate statement that the agreement and letter
of intent were in line with its strategy for international
expansion with wide-body jets as it intends to keep adding new
routes and destinations in Europe and the Americas.
The group noted it also signed an agreement for 50
additional options of Airbus A320neo aircraft, which follows
another 88 units already contracted, but did not say whether the
deal was linked to the one announced by Gol with Avolon.
"This announcement confirms that we continue to make the
necessary investments in line with our commitment to providing
increasing access to air transportation to millions of people,"
Abra CEO Adrian Neuhauser said in the statement.
In another corporate move, Abra said on Wednesday it intends to
confidentially submit a draft registration statement for a
proposed initial public offering in the United States.
