The contribution of MSMEs to India’s economic story is undeniable. The total number of MSMEs in India is about 65 million, with over 9.2 million currently registered under GST. The key catalyst to the MSME growth story is access to finance, and access to formal credit in particular. This panel will focus on tackling the key reasons formal credit providers are staying away from lending to this segment, and how effective government measures have been in addressing this gap keeping in mind the various policies announced recently under the Atmanirbhar package.
