The British government is set to launch £3.2 billion outsourcing contract for end-to-end technology transformation of UK Railways, sources privy to the developments told CNBC-TV18.
Sources said that formal bidding process to begin by late this year or early next year and the contract will be divided into 4-5 parts, which covers automation, analytics, infra services and big data component.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is the only company formally invited by the UK Railways to send request for proposal (RPF) for the contract, which will begin by May 2019 for a period of 10 years.
Other than TCS, Bengaluru-based Infosys and and Noida-based HCL Technologies is likely to submit RFPs.
