Broadcom Supercharges VMware vDefend: New Tools Elevate Zero Trust Defense
Mar 26, 2025 9:12 AM

Broadcom Inc. ( AVGO ) disclosed the enhancements to VMware vDefend on Wednesday.

These enhancements are designed to strengthen security planning and assessment, streamline lifecycle management, and enhance scalability across application environments.

These updates help organizations implementing VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) accelerate deployment, improve security operations, and efficiently manage both critical and non-critical applications.

Notably, vDefend recently earned an AAA rating for Advanced Threat Prevention in SE Labs’ Advanced Security Test Report, highlighting its strong security capabilities.

Also, a Forrester Consulting Total Economic Impact (TEI) study, commissioned by Broadcom ( AVGO ), found that organizations using VMware vDefend saw a 40% reduction in cyber breach risk, a 25% decrease in security operations costs, and avoided a 12% rise in cyber insurance premiums.

Umesh Mahajan, vice president and general manager, Application Networking and Security Division, Broadcom ( AVGO ), said, “VMware vDefend simplifies how organizations achieve zero trust and private cloud security goals by cutting through complexity and providing a comprehensive lateral security implementation.”

”The latest vDefend innovations further this efficiency by offering real-time security assessments, a next-generation security services platform to simplify operations, and micro-segmentation as code to further improve security operations.”

Yesterday, the company disclosed the expansion of its leading 200G/lane DSP PHY portfolio with the introduction of the Sian3 and Sian2M.

Investors can gain exposure to the stock via EA Series Trust Strive U.S. Semiconductor ETF and VanEck Fabless Semiconductor ETF ( SMHX ) .

Price Action: AVGO shares are down 2.96% at $182.70 at the last check Wednesday.
