11:00 AM EDT, 06/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- BWX Technologies ( BWXT ) said Thursday its Nuclear Laboratory Partners of Canada joint venture has been awarded a contract, valued at 1.2 billion Canadian dollars ($880 million) per year, from Atomic Energy of Canada for the management and operation of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories.

BWX Technologies' ( BWXT ) joint venture partners in Nuclear Laboratory Partners of Canada are Kinectrics and Amentum, with key subcontractor Battelle, the company said.

The estimated contract value is the average for the contract's six-year period, with extension periods for up to a total of 20 years, the company said.

The joint venture is set to take over CNL on Sept. 13 following a transition period that will begin in the coming weeks. CNL will focus on science and technology, decommissioning and waste management, and Chalk River revitalization missions under the new contract, BWX added.
