03:46 AM EDT, 06/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- BWX Technologies ( BWXT ) said late Monday it won the second phase of a contract with the Wyoming Energy Authority to evaluate the potential use of small-scale nuclear reactors in the state.

The company previously worked in the first phase of the program where it defined the requirements for nuclear applications and performed microreactor system engineering works. The second phase involves completing a conceptual design, regulatory engagement plan and a microreactor fleet model, the company said.

The program has an aggregate value of $20 million, according to BWX.

The company expects to complete the second phase by Q3 2025.
