03:14 PM EDT, 10/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- California American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (AWK), said Friday the California Public Utilities Commission has approved its acquisition of the Mesa del Sol water system in the Corral de Tierra area of Monterey County.

The utility said the purchase adds around 15 new water connections to its customer base, which includes about 40,000 connections on the Monterey Peninsula and other parts of the County. It expects to finalize the acquisition in early 2025.
