Cal-Maine Grows Midwest Footprint With Creighton Deal
Mar 11, 2026 6:08 AM

Cal-Maine Foods Inc. ( CALM ) announced on Monday that it has acquired the shell egg and egg products assets of Creighton Brothers LLC, including Crystal Lake LLC, for approximately $128.5 million in cash.

The assets include capacity for approximately 3.2 million laying hens, including 500,000 cage-free, 865,000 pullets, a feed mill, 1,007 acres of land, and an egg products processing facility.

The acquisition establishes Cal-Maine's shell egg presence in Indiana, a region where it previously had no operations.

Management said the acquisition expands its geographic footprint, strengthens specialty and conventional egg supply, and enhances internal sourcing for liquid egg ingredients, supporting margins and long-term per-share value.

For the quarter ended November 29, 2025, the company reported cash and short-term investments of $1.14 billion, providing ample liquidity to fund the transaction.

Technical Analysis

The stock is currently trading 8.5% below its 20-day simple moving average (SMA) and 12.3% below its 100-day SMA, indicating a bearish trend in the short to medium term. Over the past 12 months, shares have decreased, and they are currently positioned closer to their 52-week lows than highs, suggesting ongoing challenges.

The RSI is at 44.45, which is considered neutral territory, while the MACD is at 0.15, below its signal line at 0.22, indicating bearish pressure on the stock. The combination of neutral RSI and bearish MACD suggests mixed momentum.
