Canada Post Strike Could Cost Canadian Small Firms C$1 Billion Total by Wednesday, Says CFIB
Dec 2, 2024 6:39 AM

09:00 AM EST, 12/02/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The Canada Post strike, now two weeks in, has cost the small- and medium-sized business sector at least C$765 million or C$76.6 million each business day, said the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) on Monday.

At this rate, if the strike isn't immediately resolved, it will have cost the sector over C$1 billion as of Wednesday, stated CFIB.

Overall, 69% of small business owners want the Canadian government to introduce back-to-work legislation, according to the association.

"If the strike isn't settled this week, Canada Post will not be a player for the entire holiday season given the backlog it will have to sort through before taking on new business," said Corinne Pohlmann, Executive Vice-President of Advocacy at CFIB, in a statement.
