01:37 PM EDT, 06/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Canadian National Railway ( CNI ) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City ( CP ) rejected a proposal from the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference to stagger labor talks with both companies by two weeks, the union said Friday.

Staggering the negotiations will avoid possible simultaneous work stoppages, reducing the economic impact from any disruptions to the supply chain from a strike or lockout, the union said.

Canadian National Railway ( CNI ) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City ( CP ) didn't respond immediately to requests for comment by MT Newswires.
