Canadian Solar Starts Operations of Feed-In Premium Photovoltaic Projects in Japan, Signs 20-Year Power Purchase Deal With Toyota Tsusho
Jun 17, 2024 8:44 AM

11:26 AM EDT, 06/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Canadian Solar ( CSIQ ) said Monday that its first batch of feed-in premium photovoltaic projects in Japan have started commercial operations on June 1.

The operational projects include a 1.2-megawatt peak project in Tsukuba and a 1.9-megawatt peak project in Daisen town that are both powered by Canadian Solar's ( CSIQ ) CS7N-660W bifacial modules, the company said. These were awarded as feed-in tariff projects but Canadian Solar ( CSIQ ) said it switched to feed-in premium due to increasing renewable energy demand and potential for additional revenue through non-fossil certificates.

Canadian Solar ( CSIQ ) also said it signed a 20-year power purchase agreement that entitles Toyota Tsusho to 100% of the project's photovoltaic power and non-fossil certificates. No financial terms were disclosed.
