OTTAWA (Reuters) -Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Wednesday said he had "a meeting of minds" with U.S. President Donald Trump on the future of the steel and aluminum sectors as well as on energy sector cooperation.

"(This) is why our teams are negotiating the terms of those deals, and we are working ... on the modalities of an auto agreement," he told legislators in Parliament after meeting Trump in the Oval Office on Tuesday.

Canadian officials said the trip had been productive but did not result in Trump lifting tariffs on key imports from Canada.
