12:09 PM EDT, 07/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Carnival (CCL) said Tuesday it finalized the agreement with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri for three new liquefied natural gas-powered ships for its Carnival Cruise Line brand.
Financial details of the order weren't provided.
The ships are a new class of vessel, at nearly 230,000 gross registered tonnes, and will be delivered in the summers of 2029, 2031 and 2033, the company said.
The new ships will have over 3,000 guest staterooms and a full carrying capacity of nearly 8,000 guests, the company added.
The order, subject to financing, is expected to be completed later in 2024, Carnival said.
Shares of Carnival were up 5.3% in recent trading.
