05:12 AM EDT, 10/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- CenterPoint Energy ( CNP ) said late Wednesday it reached an agreement with Neara, an artificial intelligence-based infrastructure modeling platform, to focus on the cost-effectiveness of investments and improve service.

The company intends to deploy Neara's capabilities across its 5,000-square-mile Greater Houston service area.

CenterPoint plans to supplement its existing systems with Neara's technology to focus its investments "strategically and cost-effectively." It expects Neara's simulation and analytics to help "reduce customer outages and accelerate restoration efforts across its system."

CenterPoint did not disclose the agreement's financial details.
