08:13 AM EST, 01/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Centerra Gold ( CGAU ) said Friday that it has suspended the Langeloth metallurgical facility in Pennsylvania following an explosion.
The incident was caused by an uncontrolled mixture of chemicals that led to an uncontained chemical reaction adjacent to the acid plant, the company said.
Centerra said there were no fatalities but two injured contractors were taken to hospital while two employees were hospitalized as a precautionary measure.
The miner said there is no indication of a significant environmental release, adding that it has notified relevant regulatory agencies and authorities.
Centerra said it is currently assessing the estimated downtime at Langeloth.
