CF Industries, POET to Pilot Use of Low-Carbon Ammonia Fertilizer
Jul 15, 2024 7:03 AM

09:36 AM EDT, 07/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- CF Industries Holdings ( CF ) and bioethanol producer POET said Monday they are partnering to demonstrate the use of low-carbon ammonia fertilizer to lower the carbon intensity of corn and ethanol production.

The companies said the pilot project will start this fall, with additional applications planned for spring 2025, targeting the first low-carbon crop for the fall 2025 harvest.

The collaboration aims to create a certified low-carbon fertilizer supply chain, leveraging CF Industries' ( CF ) green ammonia production capabilities and POET's bioprocessing plants, the companies said.

CF and POET said the project will include educating corn producers about the carbon impact of their grain and the potential financial benefits of using low-carbon fertilizers.
